Defeat or Victory

I must admit I am saddened to see the despair of those who feel this election was a defeat!  This reveals to me that many of us have put our hope in the strength of men.  We must understand that we are not to look to mankind for our strength, hope and victory!  Just the other evening I came across this scripture (among many) that have helped me to understand exactly where our hope should come from,  “The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. From his throne he observes all who live on the earth. He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do. The best-equipped army cannot save a king, nor is great strength enough to save a warrior. DON’T COUNT ON YOUR WARHORSE TO GIVE YOU VICTORY-FOR ALL IT’S STRENGTH CANNOT SAVE YOU. BUT THE LORD watches over those who fear (follow) him, those who rely on his unfailing love…We put our hope in the Lord. HE IS OUR HELP AND SHIELD. IN HIM OUR HEARTS REJOICE, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.”Psalm 33: 13-22 David understood this.  He faced strong armies, lions and even giants and because his hope was in the Lord was able to defeat them all!  Don’t get me wrong, I believe we are to vote! I did, and although Mitt Romney did not win the presidential election, does not mean he is defeated.  In my personal opinion I fully believe that God will continue to use him to help our country and that because of this election process the Lord has opened doors that otherwise would not have been.  We need to understand something here and that is Romney does not need to be in the White House to make a difference.  I do not believe we have seen the last of him because men and women that have vision and passion do not give up easily especially if the Lord is working with them fueling them with wisdom and inspired ideas, not to mention favor. Ah yes, do not underestimate the power of God and his ability to give his people favor. Look at Moses and Pharoah. Although it was a long process, the Lord softened the heart of Pharaoh (by the persistence of Moses) to let the people of Israel go free!

As the scriptures say: With God, Overwhelming VICTORY is ours, Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.” No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:35-38
