From Homelessness to Family, and a Life of Renewed Hope

As she grabbed my hand, she turned away from the crowd, and with tears said, “I’m done with this life, I want off the streets!”

This is the cry of many women living on the streets.

There are more than 200 homeless women in the Daytona Beach area.

Since 2014 Ponce Church and many volunteers have served over 30,000 meals to the Homeless Community in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Pastor Nina Tidwell, has had many opportunities to talk and pray with a number of the Women, learn their names, give them hugs, and let them know they are loved.

565,000 Homeless in the USA – 40% are WOMEN:

In 2015 studies estimated there are 565,000 Homeless in the USA on any given night – 40% are Women. Over 1 Million people experience Homelessness each year.

Statistics say Domestic and Sexual Violence is the Leading Cause of Homelessness among Women and Families, and 20-50% of all Homeless Women and Children become Homeless as a direct result if fleeing domestic violence. The National Center on Family Homelessness and the National Coalition for the Homeless.

During one of their North Street events a woman came who had no shoes and only the clothes on her back. Because of the generous gifts of others they were able to provide her with a pair of shoes and a change of clothes.

A friend who had experienced Homelessness, Sleeping in her car, recently shared her story with me:

“God bless all you and your family with all you are doing sister. So beautiful, and has touched my heart greatly.
I have been Homeless and in and out of domestic violence my whole life, so this is very close to my heart because of the many times I’ve thought: What will I do, disabled, beaten down, and then my husband dies?
When I spent nights in my car thinking, should I go home or not, and what next?
You are doing more than giving a roof and food, you’re giving JESUS and Hope!
Thank you for that!”

Tabitha’s House: From Homelessness to Family and a Life of Renewed Hope:

Our MISSION at Tabitha’s House:

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6 NIV.

NEXT STEP: A Life of Renewed Hope

Your journey starts here. We know through first-hand experience how difficult it is to overcome alcoholism, substance use, domestic violence, and homelessness, that can stop us from living the lives that God has planned for us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for Good and not for disaster, to give you a Future and a Hope.” Jeremiah 29:11.

Tabitha’s House was founded by Pastor Nina Tidwell, to give Women the opportunity to overcome these issues, a place to begin the process of Healing and break our former destructive lifestyles and move forward with a Fresh New Start! (Pastors Rick and Nina and their family along with many volunteers have served over 35,000 meals to the homeless and those in need since 2014.)

(Psalm 139 NLT) and the Holy Spirit who is your comforter, and guide, who will speak to you and show you things to come. ”

Pastor Nina developed a strong desire to not only provide a Home, but a Family, with opportunities many would not have in any other environment, where she is involved daily, with scheduled Bible studies, and Godly counsel.

AND THE LORD SAID…
While standing in the kitchen, the Lord spoke to me and said, “I Love the Homeless Women just as much as I love the orphan. They have been crying out to Me for a very long time.” He then proceeded and said, “I have a home for them and I have put people in place with the resources to do it.” And then He said something I’d never heard Him say to me before: “Thank you for continuing to help them.” And I thought, Lord, you’re thanking me? And encouraged me to keep sharing the Vision.
The LORD replies, “I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the Poor. Now I will rise up to Rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.”
Psalm 12:5
